Political Thriller January 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After assassinating three powerful and corrupt politicians, a paramilitary group demands that the U.S. president and congress reform the government or face more deaths. In the mix is freshman congressman and former marine Michael O'Rourke who correctly guesses the identity of the group's leaders and tries to stop them. This political thriller has violence and some strong language.
Eh it was... Ok October 31, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't want to say this was a bad novel, but for some reason it just did not grip me all that much. I tried, really to get through it but for some reason when I did put it down I had none of my usual urges to get back to it. It just kind of sat on my nightstand and then I started reading something else and there it sat.
I like Flynn's work but this time I felt like there are just other things I needed to start before having to finish this novel.
An American Frederick Forsyth February 18, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I loved this book which I picked up on a trip to Washington DC a few years back. I've since read all of Flynn's novels and if you enjoy Frederick Forsyth's work (especially the likes of "The Fourth Protocol" and "Fist of God") then I'm sure you'll take to them as readily as I did. I guess that devotees of The Guardian will not enjoy his brand of political thriller but then who cares, he sells plenty without their help!
Excellent first half, turns to a medium quality... February 21, 2005 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
The idea and the main plot are brilliant. Very promising, precise and even probable. In the middle of the story everything turns upside down. There is a lot of situations that are illogic, not rational, sensless even. The end of the book is really bad - I skipped the last chapter in fact. In summary the plot and the beginning is very good - really gripping. Then you have the impression that the author didn't have an idea how to finish the story. And did it in a bad style after all.
Fantastic!! June 22, 2003 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the second of the Vince Flynn books i have read and i have become an ardent follower. From the first chapter this epic had me hooked. A political thriller with more twists and turn than a pretzal! Superb characters and plot lines who develop throughout this and certainly the next instalments. The plot conjures up some interesting points about government and the abuse of power but then is it okay to root for the guys killing the elected public figures! Fantastic, well researched and written and i defy anyone not to be swept along at the breakneck pace of the last few chapters. If you enjoy this book definately check out the rest of Vince Flynn's work.....pure gold.
