5 out of 5 stars Want your kids to start reading?   March 12, 2007

I don't read Willard price anymore, but I did once and could not get enough of him. I would have to say that Mr Price and Franklin W Dixon (author of the Hardy Boys mysteries) were responsible for my earliest reading experiences.

Willard Price writes in a fluent and easy style that is appealing to the younger age group. Give it a try!

5 out of 5 stars It's not just the boys who like to explore...   April 9, 2006

I was an avid reader as a child and spent many happy hours ensconsed in the local library. I first came across the adventure books by pure chance and was compelled to read them because of the exotic locations - 'South Sea Adventure', 'Volcano Adventure', 'Safari Adventure' - talk about opening up the world (remember this is pre-internet and pre-more-than-three-channels-on-the-telly). As a girl I never felt excluded by these books. I mean the Hunt boys have an enchanted life by anyone's standards - boy, girl, rich or poor. These books are well written so there are always compelling storylines to keep the action going, fantastic locations and enough facts to offer real educational value. Although it is always tricky recommending books through the rose-colour tinted glasses of childhood nostalgia, these are good, wholesome fun books for both adventurous boys and girls.

George (9) received a handed down copy of this book and now wants to buy all the other adventure stories by Willard Price.

He said that they were good because they contained real facts and believeable plots. Who could resist visiting the Amazon!
