5 out of 5 stars He's only scary 'cos he's hairy!   September 23, 2007
SPIDER was first broadcast on the BBC in September 1991

It's a 2D animated series that consists of soft coloured 2D line sketches, set against mostly white backgrounds.

Also, there isn't any spoken dialogue in this series.
The viewer is taken on a journey through a small boys relationship with a spider, and the narration is in the form of songs inspired by each individual adventure the boy and spider have.

This video lasts 65 minutes and contains all 13 episodes of the series. Mr Jeff Stevenson and his children {backing vocals} sing all the songs on this video in English.

The 13 episodes on this video are:
SPIDER IN THE BATH {aired 26/9/1991} JUST A SPIDER {aired 3/10/1991}
IN MY TENT {aired 10/10/1991} MONKEY BUSINESS {aired 17/10/1991}
HEDGEHOG HUNT {aired 24/10/1991} THE SPIDERS SONG {aired 31/10/1991}
LITTLE MISS M {aired 7/11/1991} HAMSTER CHASE {aired 14/11/1991}
FROG CHANGE {aired 28/11/1991} PANDA COMES TO STAY {aired 5/12/1991}
CLASSROOM DISTRACTIONS {aired 12/12/1991} C-ROCKER {aired 19/12/1991}
and TRUE FRIEND {aired 30/12/1991.}

I first saw this series when I was about three, and it made an impression on me! {to review this video, I watched it again after about a 10-year break, and I still knew all the words to the songs!}

The songs on this video range from rock 'n' roll to melancholic and haunting, and are always elegantly sung by Stevenson and family.

As the back of this video case says - "these films will live with you and your children forever" and now they will, because SPIDER is available on DVD!

Utterly fabulous!

I recently bought this video for my 2 and half girl and she loves it. But my husband and I also love it. The music is beatiful and the animation and stories are great. I really recommend it to anyone, chidren and adults. Jeff Stevenson and his daughters, Holly and Casey sing beatifully, well done!

5 out of 5 stars The video for all ages   October 25, 2003

Spider has been a favourite in my family since it was first released. My eldest grandchildren loved it and now the youngest grandchild (aged one) can't see enough of it. She dances to the music and appears to know all of the thirteen episodes. As her grandparents we find it nostalgic (it takes us back to less complicated days) and reminds us that once upon a time children were children. We find ourselves singing along the songs, it is absolutely marvellous and we are trying to obtain another copy so that we can always have it at our home, but a second copy can also be kept. Why don't we get videos like this any more.
