Lovely book, lots of good tips & variety, great tasting recipes. October 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book after buying "Cook Yourself Thin" and making loads of those recipes which I have found fantastic. This book is not so much aimed at low-calorie recipes but is a bit more adventurous and ambitious. It's a very visually appealing book with lots of pictures and a handy thing is that at the end of most recipes there is a link to another recipe containing the same main ingredient so at least if you have half of something strange left you can use it for another meal.
Chapters include - packed lunches, not-so-naughty sweet treats, sleek and slender dinner party dishes, and one called "Quick Fixes to fit into that Little Black Dress or Bikini" which is very handy!
Recipes include: Nasi Goreng, Thyme & cider pot-roasted chicken, Prawn ceviche, Vine-leaf wrapped chicken with ricotta, pine nut and mint stuffing, Banana & macadamia nut bread with blueberries (which I'm eating now!), Roasted monkfish and chorizo on sweet potato Miso salmon with black-sesame pickled vegetables & steamed rice, Parmesan crispy chicken with tomato, avocado and sweetcorn salsa Flourless hazelnut cake Flavoured oils and Chicken marinades Thai chicken soup Vanilla Cheesecakes with cassis & blackcurrant compote Salted chocolate caramel eclairs Sourdough, avocado and sweet chilli crostinis Stem ginger creme brulee with lychee salad Cucumber cups with wasabi tuna tartare
All the things I've made so far have tasted delicious, and I intend to make many more. If you have Cook Yourself Thin already, this book is actually quite different but some recipes have similarities to Sophie's choices in Cook Yourself Thin. Can take a while to find some of the ingredients but so far the end result has always been worth the hassle! I'd recommend it!
Wonderful book for every taste, beautifully made up August 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm not a fan of "cook yourself thin" (read the reviews to see why), but I'm definitely a fan of this one and of Sophie's first book "irresistible". Practically every recipe sounds so yummy I want to cook it. I normally tag the recipes that look interesting, but with this book I might as well not have bothered, because it's so full of tags they don't actually help me find anything quicker now. I've already tried some recipes and they were really tasty, I especially liked the Nasi Goreng. You'll find something for every occasion - from everyday to parties or dates - in this book. I can only recommend it!
Gorgeous recipes - and healthy too! June 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If like me, you are a fan of the 'cook yourself thin' book, then this will not disappoint you. There are some lovely and unusual recipes in here, but all with an emphasis on cooking and eating healthily. The Jasmine chocolate pots were gorgeous!!
