I bought this book as a present for my 13-year-old granddaughter, who is currently learning to cook at school. She is thoroughly enjoying the process and has already put her knowledge to good use at home, so I thought this book would be the perfect gift. However - she is English, she lives in England, and cooks English food with English ingredients and English names. Whilst this book appears to be excellent in its way, I wish I had known before I bought it that it is an AMERICAN book, naturally using American recipes, foodstuffs, and particularly American terminology. Consequently I'm not sure how useful it will be to her ... I might ultimately decide to buy her another one but if I do, it will definitely be an English book, aimed at English kids...
