Dreamweaver MX September 9, 2003 1 out of 15 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this book having bought Dreamweaver Mx. I have used Dreamweaver 3 to create static web pages and wanted to make my sites more dynamic. Having read this book for many nights I couldn't even establish a connection in order to design my site. My Hosting company does not allow FTP uploads and this book was absolutely uselss on this subject. Being unable to establish a connection meant that I was unable to proceed with the rest of the chapter. Dreamweaver for dummies, more like dreamweaver for jargon heads!
Good for beginners January 23, 2003 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I cant enphasise how good this book really is. This is the first book i have read in a long time and anybody could follow it. The terms are all really well explained and the free cd that comes with it has a number of different trial programmes such as flash, dreamweaver and photoshop. There is also an online chapter of basic HTML, however, you don't need any prior knowledge of it, as the book takes you through each feature step by step. For the more advanced web designer, the book acts as an excellent quick reference guide - although, some chapters are very basic! All in all a fantastic read - well recommended.
Could do better December 5, 2002 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I already had Dreamweaver installed and had done a little playing around before I bought this book. Heavily biased towards Windows users and I was unable to set-up my Database application for PHP as the author offered no guidence in this area. So if your a Windows user and want to use ASP scripts on your site, then you can't go wrong with this book. If your a Mac based user and want to use PHP then stay away.

I thought this book was excellent. The way it takes you through each step individually, describing what you should be seeing, and the actions you should be taking. This book is good for both the complete beginner, to the experienced web author, its tells you how to do something as simple as adding text, to modifying graphics, and adding moving text. this book has really helped me to improve my web development skills, and i recommend it to both inexperienced and experienced web designers.
